ABOUT

 Anjie Blair is a Tasmanian architectural photographer who chases the immaculate image, preferably under blue skies with a little cloud.

She grew up on a farm in the West Tamar and learnt from an early age to work hard. Leaving home at 16, Anjie ventured into the adult world of tough, no-compromises work. She slogged it out as a trainee chef then function kitchen manager in Melbourne. It was then onto studying natural resource management, guide dog training and a diploma of graphic design before picking up a camera when Anjie got a job working in Launceston on weddings, professional portraits and real estate photography 12 years ago.

Anjie permanently shifted the lens from brides to bricks and mortar about 7 years ago and her pristine pictures have attracted praise from around the globe. Anjie’s work has been published in Indesign and Green magazines and featured on The Local Project, Habitus Living, Design Boom, Archdaily and The Design Files. She’s been interviewed by Women Architecture Photographers,AP Almanac, M-Mode Creative and her favourite image, Girl and Her Unicorn, scored her a spot in the top 100 of the Architizer One Photo Challenge.
Anjie has shot nationally-recognised and renowned projects for Northern Tasmanian-based firms, Cumulus Studio, Form Projects and Davies Construction and has recently ventured to Hobart to produce stunning work for Crump Architects, Licht Architecture and LXN Architecture.

The straight lines and symmetry of buildings deliver great satisfaction to Anjie, which is what keeps her coming back for more. She derives great satisfaction from bringing textured tiles to life, making a brightly coloured bathroom pop and waiting patiently for an angle to release its shadow. Her most powerful images, though, are when humans interact with space.
